BMW Motorsport a annoncé les détails de son programme 2016, et bien sûr la BMW M6 GT3 sera engagé dans quelques compétitions tels que DTM, WTSCC, 24h entre autres ! Mais ici, on va profiter de l’annonce de BMW Motorsport pour présenter la BMW M6 GT3. On connait bien la BMW M6 présentée en mai 2015, et on sait que la présentation de la livrée GT3 de la BMW M6 a été effectué en septembre 2015 lors de l’IAA, à domicile quoi ! On se rappelle que dans le cadre des 24 Heures du Nürburgring, qui se déroulait du 16 au 17 mai 2015, BMW avait présenté la M6 GT3 le 14 mai lors de la ‘M night’ mais dans une livrée camouflage. … On sait aussi que pour le prochain CES, en janvier 2016 donc, BMW viendrait avec sa suberbe i8 dans une version inédite … à suivre // Pas trop de rapport, mais j’avais envie de l’écrire. // Pour le moment, et donc maintenant redécouvrons la BMW M6 dans sa version compétition sportive et livrée finale, juste pour le plaisir de regarder. Mais aussi, le 19 novembre 2015, BMW a annoncé la continuité de la série BMW Art Cars ! …sheer watching pleasure ;)

Très populaire dans le monde des parcs fermés et de la course automobile, les véhicules homologués en catégorie GT3 participent à de très nombreux championnats dans le monde. Pour les divisions course des constructeurs, ce type de voiture constitue un marché important, autant pour l’image, que pour des clients pilotes ou des équipes de course, les teams. Jusqu’à maintenant, BMW proposait la Z4 GT3, pour qui l’heure de la retraite bien mérité est venu.
« Nous avons certainement une saison 2016 excitante devant nous. BMW a 100 ans, ce qui nous donne évidemment une motivation supplémentaire pour présenter la marque avec autant de succès que possible afin de marquer cet anniversaire. De plus, après plusieurs mois d’essais intensifs, nous allons maintenant voir en compétition les BMW M6 GT3 et BMW M6 GTLM. Je suis certain que nous, nos clients et les fans vont avoir beaucoup de plaisir avec ces voitures.

Le groupe motopropulseur est doté d’une lubrification à carter sec et développe jusqu’à 585 ch. Affichant un poids total inférieur à 1 300 kg, la BMW M6 GT3 se distingue en outre par son concept transaxle (moteur à l’avant, boîte à l’arrière), sa boîte de vitesses séquentielle de course à six rapports et ses systèmes électroniques de compétition hautes performances.

4.4-litre TwinPower Turbo V8
The BMW eight-cylinder engines owe the V in their name to the position of their cylinder banks, which stand at a 90° angle to each other. The arrangement and distribution of the cylinders on the two cylinder banks ensure perfect equalization of the inertial forces and thus for unusually smooth running.
In vehicles with TwinPower Turbo two equally-large turbochargers work at the same time and supply the engine with compressed air. The central arrangement of the turbos between the cylinder banks of the V8 engines allows a particularly compact design. Combined with the direct fuel injection (High Precision Injection) system, a water-cooled intercooling system and use of the most modern lightweight construction components – like the magnesium aluminium compound crank case – BMW V8 engines reach impressive levels of performance with high efficiency.
Thus the 4.4-litre TwinPower Turbo V8 petrol engine (N63) delivers a full 449 hp and a maximum torque of 650 Nm. The V8 engine of BMW M (S63) provides even more power. Here a pair of Twin Scroll turbochargers supplies the engine with air. The result is an outstanding 560 hp, 680 Nm torque and a litre achievement of 127 hp per litre cubic capacity. The patented cylinder bank-overlapping exhaust manifold provides a particularly even exhaust supply. Thus differences in pressure, which lead to delays in the response mode, are effectively avoided. This means a high level of spontaneous power delivery.
La tradition de la course et des art cars sera perpétuée avec la BMW M6 GT3
BMW Motorsport va continuer une tradition âgée de 40 ans avec la série des BMW Art Cars en 2016 avec deux artistes internationaux qui vont s’adonner à la nouvelle BMW M6 GT3. A savoir, la première BMW Art Car étant la 3.0 CSL vue au Mans en 1975 et réalisée par Alexander Calder.

Afin de marquer ce 40ème anniversaire, Cao Fei et John Baldessari ont été désignés pour concevoir deux livrées de BMW M6 GT3.
L’artiste chinoise Cao Fei (née en 1978) et l’artiste américain John Baldessari (né en 1931) seront respectivement la plus jeune et le plus âgé des artistes représentés dans la collection.
Cette collaboration a été annoncée le 19 novembre en présence des artistes par Ian Robertson, membre du Directoire de BMW AG, devant un parterre choisi de 150 invités au musée Solomon R. Guggenheim, à New York. Les deux artistes créeront leur BMW M6 GT3 au cours de l’année à venir. Les véhicules nouvellement décorés seront présentés dans divers musées en 2017, tout en devant par ailleurs faire leurs preuves sur les circuits.

La collection BMW Art Cars
Depuis 1975, des artistes du monde entier transforment des modèles BMW contemporains en Art Cars. La collection fut inaugurée cette année-là lorsque Hervé Poulain, pilote de course et amateur d’art français, associé à Jochen Neerspach, alors directeur de BMW Motorsport, demanda à son ami artiste Alexander Calder de décorer une voiture de compétition. Le résultat fut une BMW 3.0 CSL, qui participa aux 24 Heures du Mans de 1975 et devint rapidement l’une des grandes favorites du public. La collection BMW Art Cars était née. En 2010, la dernière-née de la série, une voiture habillée par Jeff Koons, fut présentée au Centre Pompidou, à Paris. Les BMW Art Cars ne sont pas seulement exposées au Musée BMW de Munich, leur ville natale. Elles voyagent aussi à travers le monde, où elles sont présentées dans des musées et des expositions en Asie, en Europe et en Amérique du Nord. 2014 a vu la publication d’un premier ouvrage offrant un panorama exhaustif de cette collection.

Priority was given to ensuring maximum driver safety. To offer the drivers of the BMW M6 GT3 as much protection as possible against the effects of an accident, BMW Motorsport itself developed and produced the FIA-approved safety cell in accordance with the very latest safety standards. The engineers also placed great importance on efficiency and ease of maintenance, as well as reliability, which is particularly crucial at the 24-hour classics. The development of the BMW M6 GT3 incorporated all the experience that BMW Motorsport gained with the car’s successful predecessor, the BMW Z4 GT3. For example, the new GT3 racing car boasts many improvements, particularly when it comes to driveability and economy. The positioning of the driver’s seat towards the centre of the car and the long wheelbase make driving the BMW M6 GT3 a unique experience in the world of motor racing.

BMW Motorsport has channelled its vast well of experience amassed since 2010 with the BMW M6 GT3’s successful predecessor, the BMW Z4 GT3, into the development of the new car. Indeed, the new GT3 racer boasts a raft of improvements, particularly in the areas of drivability and economy. One example is the use of a series-produced engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, which develops higher output and an increase in torque. Moreover, with its centrally-positioned driver’s seat and long wheelbase, the BMW M6 GT3 offers a driving feeling unparalleled on the racing scene.
The BMW M6 GT3 weighs less than 1,300 kilograms, and the transaxle drive concept, sequential six-speed racing gearbox and body aerodynamics optimised in the BMW wind tunnel also highlight the imminent arrival of a full-blooded racer from BMW Motorsport in 2016. The reliability, efficiency and ease of maintenance of the BMW M6 GT3 will likewise be tuned to master the demands of endurance racing, and its longer wheelbase promises to deliver significantly improved handling characteristics compared with the BMW Z4 GT3. As well as the car itself, BMW M6 GT3 customers will also benefit from the service laid on by BMW Motorsport support engineers and a trackside supply of parts.
In May 2015, ahead of the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife circuit in Germany, BMW Motorsport customers from around the world were treated to an exclusive first glimpse of the BMW M6 GT3 – not to mention a detailed presentation of the car by drivers and engineers – at a “closed room” event at the BMW M Testcenter Nürburg. The GT racing car was subsequently introduced to fans of “the most powerful letter in the world” at the traditional M Night event on the Friday before the classic endurance race in the “Green Hell”.

Customer teams in North America were able to feast their eyes on the BMW M6 GT3 for the first time at the United SportsCar Championship (USCC) in Watkins Glen (US), where the racing car was given its first public appearance on the other side of the Atlantic in late June. The BMW M6 GT3 was then revealed to teams, drivers and fans at the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race in Belgium – the most important GT race in the world. And now, the car has appeared in BMW Motorsport racing livery for the first time at the IAA.
The BMW M6 GT3 has undergone an extensive programme of testing on a variety of circuits over the course of 2015. This has allowed the experienced BMW works drivers to amass many valuable kilometres at the wheel of the BMW M6 GT3 and to carry out important work on the baseline set-up of the new GT and endurance racing challenger. This new poster car for customer racing is now undergoing a final round of fine-tuning prior to its race debut in the coming year.

Munich/New York. Following commissions by Jenny Holzer (1999), Olafur Elíasson (2007) and Jeff Koons (2010), the BMW Art Car series will now be continued. On the occasion of the series’ 40th anniversary, a jury of distinguished museum directors and curators chose two internationally renowned artists to design one car each. Chinese artist Cao Fei (*1978) and American artist John Baldessari (*1931) will be the youngest and the oldest artist represented in the collection respectively. On November 19 and in the presence of the artists, Ian Robertson, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, announced the collaboration at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York in front of 150 select guests. Both artists will create a BMW M6 GT3 in the coming year. The newly-designed vehicles will then be presented in museums in 2017, while also having to prove themselves on the racetrack. “On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the BMW Art Car Collection, it is time to look ahead. The collection is the embodiment of the cultural commitment of the BMW Group – its vehicles stand for the combination of cutting-edge technology and inspiring art. Since 1975 artists from the world over have been creating Art Cars on the basis of contemporary BMW automobiles. The collection was inaugurated when French race car driver and art aficionado Hervé Poulain in collaboration with the then BMW Motorsport Director Jochen Neerpasch asked his artist friend Alexander Calder to design a car. The result was a BMW 3.0 CSL, which in 1975 was raced at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and became an instant favourite with the spectators: the BMW Art Car Collection was born. In 2010, the most recent addition to the series, a car designed by Jeff Koons, was introduced at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. BMW Art Cars are not only on display in their home town at BMW’s museum in Munich, they also travel internationally to exhibitions and museums in Asia, Europe and North America.

BMW Art Journey
In addition to experiencing the BMW Art Journey, visitors can venture into the fair’s Collectors Lounge to catch a glimpse of the BMW Art Car designed by César Manrique in 1990. This Spanish artist worked as architect, graphic designer, sculptor and landscape artist. Most importantly, however, he was passionate about protecting the environment. Inspired by his commitment to this cause, he designed an Art Car representing the harmony of technology and nature.
This year, the BMW Art Car Collection is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and the two artists chosen to design the next two Art Cars were recently announced at the Guggen-heim Museum in New York City. Chinese artist Cao Fei (*1978) and American artist John Baldessari (*1931) will be the youngest and the oldest artist represented in the collection respectively. Both artists will create a BMW M6 GT3 in the coming year, which will be presented in museums and also on the racetrack in 2017.

Magnifique bête, beau moteur domage que la description technique du moteur ne soit qu’en Anglais, pas sur que tout le monde ne comprenne.

La présentation du moteur BMW V8 de 4,4 litres, est autant en français qu’en anglais. Certes, le détail très précis est qu’in English! C’est un choix éditorial. Sur le site DM, je publie l’article principalement en français, et souvent un résumé en anglais. Les deux sont complémentaires et invite le lecteur à faire l’effort de lire le texte en 2 langues, et d’apporter une valeur ajouté, via la complémentarité des différents textes en 2 langues FR/EN. Ce n’est pas une traduction de l’article dans une langue ou l’autre. Il y a vraiment un choix de structure de texte et d’utiliser les 2 langues.
Toutefois, votre commentaire est pertinent. Par contre, je ne traduirais pas mot à mot, car ça rend pas bien, beacause my English is too bad to translate this! But, to post in both languages improve my English! … and maybe useful for my readers!
Enfin j’adapte cela aussi selon le sujet et l’automobile, et le public cible potentiel. Pour un post sur une auto constructeur FR, la démarche est différente.
